I think the sign says it all really? It explains why I've once seen something about this church by chance, then spent a long time trying to re-find that information. Why is Colchester not a little more proud of this? If it truly is the oldest known Christian Church in Britain, then more people should know. === The church was excavated in the 70s and 80s during the building of the adjacent police station. It was found with east-west Christian burials, along with other Pagan burials. The build date is c.330, with the apse at the east end being built c.380, and further extensions being made c.400. === Does anyone know of an earlier church?
