In memory of Sir Ralph Palmer, Knt. Nearly eleven years Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Judicature at Madras.
The youngest son of William and Mary Palmer of Nazing and married at Madras in 1829 to Margaret Eliza, eldest daughter of Colonel Fearon, C.B., by whom he left issue, one son and four daughters.
Retiring from the high office of Chief Justice of Madras, beloved and respected in private and public life, he returned to England in 1836, in apparent health and strength, but died suddenly of an organic disease of the heart, in the 3?5th year of his age, on 25th of January 1835, and lies buried in a vault by this monument, in the Christian hope of a blessed resurrection.
